This new solo piano release by veteran keyboardist Paul Potyen contains 15 original jazz compositions. Said Sunny Buxton of San Francisco?s jazz station, KSCM FM, "It's self-assured, thought-provoking adult music-fare." While most of the tracks are solo piano performances, one cut ? a beautiful Brazilian ballad called "Barreiros" ? also features jazz guitarist Steve Boynton. And the final track is a work performed by Potyen on multiple layered synthesizers titled "Three Short Stories." This collection of original pieces ranges from a modern flavor somewhat reminiscent of Keith Jarrett?s solo work, to Brazilian and Afro-Cuban styles, to driving bebop, and soulful ballads. "I thought Facets was a fitting title, given the range of musical styles on this disc," commented Potyen.
