"In the period of the 80's and 90's when Hi-NRG dance music was all the rage in clubs, few did it better than Paul Parker. Unfortunately, his albums and CD's have slowly fallen from availability, and his unique take on pop-tunes has gotten harder to find. If you weren't a disco habitue during this years, you likely didn't even hear any of Parker's hits, although "Right On Target" made radio inroads in some urban markets.

What is really cool about this CD is it shows just how several artists would take current popular songs and spruce them up with quick beats and new-wave synths. They were definitely following a formula, but Parker was one of the few who ever seemed to make his versions sound tailored for him. (Another artist, Abigail - Feel Good - came a close second.) On "Destiny," Parker strobe lights late 80's hits from Cyndi Lauper ("Time After Time"), U2 ("With Or Without You") and a terrific version of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game." The apex of this was a tribute to the movie Philadelphia, blending soundtrack songs from Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen and addition verses from Parker into a reminder of why the film was such a landmark moment in cinema.

Parker also has a few original songs on "Destiny," of which "Wildest Dreams" is the best. If you miss that retro-dance groove that seems more innocent as years pass, find this minor classic while there are still copies around. You might still party likes it's 1995."

"Paul Parker is one of the best HI-NRG artist of all time. I have his 2 CD Collection of greatest hits. This cd has a lot of the same songs, but I got this cd for the song "DRIVE" a remake of the CARS song. If you like HI-NRG get some of Paul Parker cd's, you won't be disappointed. And if you choose between this cd or the Greatest Hits Collection buy "Destiny"."
