The Passage is the band that Morrissey auditioned for before he set up The Smiths, he failed because the band thought he was 'too glum to go on the road with'. If you like 'The Fall' you'll love 'The Passage'

"I'm a longtime fan of UK's 'The Passage' and also 'The Fall', since the beginning of time. But I didn't realize 'The Passage' was technically an offshoot of 'The Fall', until I read the CD ('Seedy') liner notes! How does one properly describe 'The Passage'? Well, unique, for one thing -- intense, strident, quirky for another. A strange blend of social criticism, irony and high art. I've never found another band quite like them, save 'The Fall'. If you're already a fan of UK's 'The Fall' you shouldn't miss 'The Passage'! I think I've always preferred 'The Passage' because the vocals, lyrics, and musical intricacies were more intriguing and stimulating than other UK bands of their time. I've waited almost 20 years for a CD (like 'Seedy') from 'The Passage', at here it is, at last! Hurrah!! Thank you, Cherry Red Records!"
