CD Reviews

Dynamic, passionate, electrifying

"Pascal Obispo hypnotizes and excites the listener with his passionate singing and powerful lyrics. The energetic crowd cheering momentarily in the background, along with the smooth intrusion of the bass and synthesizer, set the mood for the opening song, "Personne." "Ou Est L'Elue" and "Il Faut Du Temps" each feature an incredible electric guitar interlude. Obispo moves the audience with his incredibly smooth vocal range, as he belts out each tune with all of his (seemingly un-extinguishable) energy. Never hesitating to improvise, he and his talented fellow musicians deliver an awesome performance. On CD 2, Obispo gets the crowds to chime along with him in singing the refrain in "Tombe Pour Elle". Zazie creates a sweet duo with Obispo in "Les Meilleurs Ennemis". "Lucie" is appropriately sung at the end of the concert, leaving the audience with the message "c'est pas marque dans les livres...qu'il faut vivre au jour le jour".A couple of comments for fellow music aficionados: 1. The recording quality of "Obispo - Live `98" is crystal clear (same quality as a CD recorded in a recording studio). 2. When Obispo sings, you hear him loud and clear. The intermitten, distant cheering from the audience DOES NOT drown out Obispo's voice. In comparison to his other albums - "Un Jour Comme Aujourd'hui"; "Superflu"; "Soledad"; which are all superb, each in its own way - "Obispo - Live `98" is an album which can be listened to many times over. This album is truly electrifying and passionate, and unquestionably well worth its price."
I love this cd!

"I first heard it on France's version of VH-1. I was so mesmerized by "Assassine." My brother went to a music store across from our hotel in Paris and bought one for me and one for him. I haven't stopped listening to it! And I got it two years ago! It's way good!"
