CD Reviews

Beauty AND feeling!
Andrew Gardner | 10/08/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I've heard alot of very technically correct choir recordings. Most of them out there are...but they have no feeling! This one is well-performed, but it's ALSO chock full of feeling and emotion that just sucks you in. These are monks and nuns with amazing voices that are living what they're singing. No wonder it has such depth. Get ready for an experience rather than simply a collection of well-executed choir pieces.

The CD contains Gregorian chant selections interspersed among polyphonic works by the best known choral composers of the 16th and 17th centuries. Everyone is familiar with Gregorian chant now, but if you're not familiar with polyphonic singing, it's time. With polyphonic music, there's no melody and harmony, as with most choir music. Each vocal part is its own melody which intertwines and plays off the others to form the most beautiful vocal music you've ever heard. You'll think you died and went to heaven!"

"In Paradisum is awesome because it is unique. The voices on the C.D. are beautiful, and who wouldn't want to hear people singing in Latin? This is worth the buy, because no one else can sing this good!!"

"If you want to feel close to God, listen to this collection of sacred music. The voices soar as will your soul."
