CD Reviews

Miller a fabulous up and comer
Mark Wettreich | Austin, Texas United States | 10/24/2000

"A friend of mine dished me this CD after picking up a copy for himself in New York. I popped it into my disc player and was immediately delighted upon hearing the first track, the catchy power pop song entitled Reckoning. This was followed up by "All the Good Things", a marvelous achievement. This song sounds like a song that could have been written by Catatonia or Garbage, but has a vocal quality along the lines of Billie Holliday. This seemingly strange combination actually serves Ms. Miller very well as I found myself replaying track #2 over and over again. This is followed by "From the Other Side" and "Summer" which both showcase Miller's consioderbale vocal talents in soft ballad-type melodies. "Moonbeam Ladies", "Tuesday Afternoon", and "Save Our God" more than adequately complete this fascinating, though slightly brief, debut album. If you want to be able to say you got in on ground zero regarding a wonderful artist, then I highly recommend you pick this album up and begin what hopes to be a long and entertaining relationship between Pamela Miller and your CD player."
What a great unknown artist

"I first saw Pamela Miller performing "Someone save our god" on the Oxygen channel. Her performance was so intimate, I was blown away and immediately went to the record store, sad thing was, they didn't have it. Although the cd is short, it shows a great range of songs, not one is the same. My favorites are Someone save our god, Summer (you can't help but sing along), and Tuesday Afternoon. I can't compare her to anyone like Fiona Apple or Tara MacLean, she stands on her own with no comparison. If you like artists with an original perspective and voice, you need to give this a listen. You won't regret it."
