Synopsis

Album Description
"As in traditional Japanese music, much is made of the power of silence, the resonance of decaying tones, and the weight of the suspenseful interval." -- Ptolemaic Terrascope The second full-length album from Italy's Painting Petals On Planet Ghost, Fallen Camellias is a tribute to one of Japan's greatest poets. Yosano Akiko's work in the early 1900s is considered a manifesto of Japanese Romanticism. Imagine Vashti Bunyan or early Marianne Faithful singing sweet melodies in Japanese, and you have an idea of the musical and poetic universe of Painting Petals On Planet Ghost. Ramona Ponzini's singing comes from the use of selected original poems in Japanese along with Ponzini's own soft, enchanting wordless style. The songs are built on acoustic guitar melodies composed by Maurizio Opalio, and are made of the same pure, melancholic essentiality as legendary Nick Drake. After contributing arrangements of a most ecstatic nature, Roberto Opalio played the role of producer, searching not only for an aesthetic but for an emotional ideal of perfection. In the dead of winter, let Fallen Camellias be your warm blanket.
