CD Reviews

For what it is, it's PERFECT.

"First let me point out that this isn't a long-lost or upcoming album of the Cali-based pop/rock band. If you're looking for THAT Ozma, you're in the wrong place. "A Huge And Silent Place" is actually quite the opposite of anything "rock."

What this "Ozma" offers is nothing more than ambient "space" sounds. However, for ambient space sounds, it does quite a nice job. And I'm not using the word "ambient" lightly either. This is really only a collection of sounds and noises which are supposed to suggest an outer space sound--despite the impossibility of sound in space. It might be a nice choice for you if you'd enjoy such non-involving atmospheric sounds whlle doing other tasks or simply relaxing. It's a great CD for putting on while you sleep.

Though I doubt this album will ever be available on Amazon, you can find it on other places across the internet. It was going to be sold on Amazon at one point, but after label and release problems, I believe it was self released by the artists who recorded it.

THE BOTTOM LINE is that this album is great for what is is. You may want to find some clips online somewhere before you actually buy it though. While it's interesting, it's not for everyone--especially if you're looking for something MORE than just some atmospheric noise. And while I'm not using the term "noise" in a negative sense, you certainly won't find any "music" here. If you're looking for a song to rock-out to, or sing along with, you need to try elsewhere."
