While this is aptly a "step outside" of their punk roots, they maintain a good sense of energy and variety on this album. Although not quite a staple for pop-punk legacy, "Step Outside Yourself" warrants your attention if your playlist swims with the likes of New Found Glory, Fall Out Boy circa Take This To Your Grave, and, on a lesser note, Fenix TX. Punk enthusiasts will likely denounce the album as the band's falling off point, their "jump" to mainstream; and while their relatively lighter songs will garner some more ears, songs like the opening "Think Against The Grain" and fan favorite "Siren on the 101" can appeal to all demographics. With spring mere weeks away, there's no better way to get ready for the warmer weather than stashing the coat, putting on your flip flops, and spinning this fun, yet hearty, pop-punk gem.
