CD Reviews

Rewiev by a non-german.
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I first heard Ougenweide back in the mid-70'ies, and I fell in love with their music immediately. Although I do not like compilations (like this), it seems to be the only way to get to know O. Unfortunately it seems that their 10 or so albums from 73 to 82 are not avilable on cd (yet). This album shows many of the highligts of the groups material. If You think that music from the 12' century or even older, played on anything from indian flutes to synth's sounds great - buy this. Personally I would recommend this strongly instead of the new 'Sol', wich has too many keybords for my taste - although some of it is great."
Up there with In Extremo
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I first found out about these guys when I typed in "totus floreo" on the song search thingy to see if any other bands besides in extremo did medieval stuff, and here they were. I love every song on here and the way it's presented. I especially like the bagpipe accompanying "merseburger zauberspruche." In Extremo is my favorite band, and I recommend them to any music fan out there. I now recommend Ougenweide as well. you just can't beat the classics!"
German medieval music with contemporary touch | Germany (Westfalia) | 09/18/1998
(4 out of 5 stars)

"It's difficult to give a review to non-Germans. The Band performs medieval and contemporary (German) lyrics together with medevial, "folky" or contemporary (1978!) music. Everyone, who likes "old" music or "folk" music should try to give it a good listening!!! They've released a more recent album "Sol" in 1996 (Electrola) which is much more "international" and also worth to give it a listening, too!, please ("amazones") offer it for sale!... Cheers!!!"
