CD Reviews

Great Albums - However These Are NOT Remastered!

(2 out of 5 stars)

"I've been a long time fan of Osibisa, since the '70s. That's when I bought Woyaya and Heads.

This 2 album set consists of the titles Osibisa and Woyaya. I had never heard the Osibisa album before. It's surprisingly good. The main reason I purchased this CD set was to get a pristine version of Woyaya. Unfortunately I was sorely disappointed with this CD.

I listened to every track from the originally mastered CD, released in 1993 and compared it to this 2004 "remastered" version. There was absolutely no difference that I could detect between the two! The album still sounds muddy and dull, not clean and bright as I would expect from a decent remastering job.

If it wasn't for the Osibisa album I would consider this to have been a complete waste of money - though the sound on that album is none too good either.

My 2 star rating is not because of the music which is great, but because of the high price with poor sound quality. Give me nice Woyaya remastering and I'd gladly give this CD 5 stars."
