CD Reviews

A timeless meeting between two mystics
Bodhi Heeren | Copenhagen | 08/24/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"During his many years of talking daily to the many people who flocked around him, Osho touched on almost every spiritual tradition before him. But it was evident that he had a special love and understanding for Gautam the Buddha. And whenever these two masters met time stood still, making it clear that they were connected in a dimension beyond our ordinary conception of the passing stream of time. Completely annihilating the difference of 2.500 years.

The Heart Sutra is one of the most profound buddhist scriptures, containing the famous mantra: 'Gate, gate, paragate, parasamgate' ('Gone, gone, gone beyond, gone totally beyond') which really condenses the whole journey of the spiritual search. But as Osho emphazises, this is something to be lived, not a mantra to be automatically repeated.

As often is the case, Osho oscillates between commenting and expounding the text and answering questions from disciples and other seekers. Always making sure that the insights are related to our existential search and everyday life.

This audio-book contains all the lectures from the book of the same name. And of couse listening to the soft, lovetransmitting voice of Osho is something else. As always the talks are completely improvised making you feel you actually are listening to a masterimprovisator like John Coltrane or Jerry Garcia when they are completely in the zone. And in fact Osho always recommended one listened to him not with the intellect but in the same way we listen to a streaming brook or the chirping of birds.

And as always the real message is in the Silence between the words."
