Synopsis

Album Description
"Soul-saving, '80s indie-sodden soundtrack to the gloomy underground parties your mum never warned you about." -- NME "More than coming off as rote homage to British post-punk, The Organ feels like the genuine article, forgotten for decades, but finally unearthed." -- Ink19 "Anchored by a pumping Hammond organ, the songs on Grab That Gun are often quirky and unconventional, a record for daydreaming about breaking hearts and basement suites in the winter." -- New York Times (from Tegan and Sara's playlist) "Grab That Gun is a fine debut that captures The Organ's knack for writing strangely timeless, and beautifully sad, songs." -- All Music Guide Fans of The Organ, bittersweet melodies, and sad songs take note: on October 14th Mint Records will unveil Thieves, a six-song EP that serves as the band's final farewell. After an all-too-brief but wildly successful stint in the spotlight--to the dismay of legions of fans worldwide--Vancouver's The Organ called it quits in 2006, with Katie, Jenny, Schmoo, Debra, and Shelby heading their separate ways. At the time of the breakup, the band had been working on several new songs, and some months later the members began discussing the possibility of bringing these remaining gems to life. In 2007, The Organ briefly regrouped and headed back into the studio to quietly record these six remaining unrecorded songs, originally meant to be part of a follow-up to their 2004 debut full-length Grab That Gun.
