CD Reviews

Great electronic Noise!!!
Anke Borgert | Neuenkirchen, NRW Germany | 07/22/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"For those who knows Oomph! as a band with a noisy guitar sound this CD will sound very strange, because it is only electronic noise, without any guitars, but it is really an experience! It is the first CD they had produced and it is a great debut. My favorite songs are "Mein Herz", "Der neue Gott" and "Ich bin Du". All songs are cult! It is pure electronic noise, hard, loud and very exciting."
Oomph! In the beginning. . .

"Although I will say this is not one of my favorite Oomph! cd's. It does grow on you when you listen to it. This cd has come to hold a special place in my collection. And to be honest if you listen to it at night in the dark its kinda scary!

Anyways, there are some pretty good songs on here, and there are some okay songs on here. And if you are really into old school 80's sounding industrial music/guitar sounds then this is your cd.

I got into Oomph! hearing some of their later music, listening to their first disc is ecxiting because 1:its a cool cd 2:Oomph! is just that awesome and as eclectic as I am. So if you are a diehard fan then I recommend at least collecting this cd. These are the songs I thought were cool on this cd: Ich Bin Du, Der Neue Gott, Under Pressure grew on me after a while, Me Inside You, Purple Skin, Mein Herz is awesome.

Deros voice doesn't quite become melodic until Wunschkind, mostly he is growling and shouting in this one, most of which I like, and some of which could have been done better. The guitars are a sweet touch to the harsh electronic sound. Some of the keys are a little annoying at points. I'd say overall its a solid album."
