We've Been Waiting for This One

"I heard On the Might of Princes for the first about 3 years ago. They epitomized a great DIY, melodic emo band (what I mean is real emo, not the recent slandered version of the word because then what the hell exactly is emo anyways?). Much like Indian Summer, their trademark rough production (notably low vocal mixing) gave them a very intimate feel. Now on Revelation, they received a more thorough production treatment... and to my surprise (more or less) it sounds incredible. All On the Might fans will feel complacent with Sirens. It fits right between your heart and your throat. A few changes to their dynamics, but what you got is another artful album by OTMOP. Captivating, thickly layered guitar harmonies, incredible bass and drum tones, and probably the most precious, honest lyrics you'll hear this year. Don't hesitate, pick this up for sure. I also recommend smoking copious amounts of marijuana and seeing them live; there's nothing better."

"Words cannot describe the emotion and intensity in this album. Between the music and the vocals everthinhg is amazing. The vocals go from soft melodies to emotional outbursts of screaming. Get this album and also their older one which is also good."
The Swell and the Breaking

"I know very little about this band and their history. Sirens is a masterpiece, a beautiful and volatile piece of work. It rocks hard, and takes frequent instrumental stops only to swell up again and unleash a wall of guitars and screams upon you. The songs swell and break into each other, often within the same song, creating almost two different songs within one song. These rises and falls are nothing new, but On the Might Of Princes do it so well, that they make it fresh and a joy to listen to.When I think of this band, I think of a mix of At the Drive In and the Appleseed Cast. Draw what conclusions from that you will, but On the Might of Princes has the ferocity and spastic unpredictable ness of At the Drive In, and the ability of the Appleseed Cast to craft beautiful spacy songs. In the same song they can rock the hell out of you, and then bring it all back to earth with a soft guitar line played over relaxed drums, only to explode again with twitchy drumming and a total wall of guitars. The vocals range from full out screams to soft singing, both of which are utilized well. I don't really know what else to say about this release, it's beautiful in its own unique way. Many will find this to be redundant and boring, and that's to bad. Because this is inteligent and meaningful rock/emo/punk/post-hardcore/any thing else...wow I hate generes, they never can describe the good music. Basically take all the aforementioned styles and mix them together, and you'll get an idea of what On the Might of Princes is like. I still like my At the Drive In Appleseed Cast comparison, I think that works perfect to describe their sound. Or they could sound like the Blood Brothers if the Blood Brothers didn't scream as much, slowed down some, and played more constructed songs. Or maybe not, just buy this record, I like it, and you probably will also."
