Synopsis

Album Description
La danza en mi corazon features 12 tunes, 11 composed by Omar Torrez, some are solo and others feature his acoustic band, Orpheus. The album is more than a compilation of tunes. Omar calls the style of this CD "flamenco soul and groove". It is a dramatic work of art that opens with a with a sensuous muse's reflections giving way to a very "macho" Latin jazz tune (El Toro) and continues to build up to a fiery stage, featuring a spicy blend of unparalleled flamenco guitar and Latin/Middle Eastern rhythms. It also includes the Mexican revolutionary classic "Llorona" a version that would be tough to top. It all culminates in a fiery duel between Omar on the Spanish guitar and Mario Butkovic on the doumbek, backed by other Orpheus members. This is a delightful display of instrumental virtuosity that compels the listener to dance and dance. La danza en mi corazon, which is produced by Omar Torrez on his own label and co-produced by the legendary Dennis MacKay, has already sold over 4,000 copies without the benefit of any airplay or distribution.

"This cd is my new happy pill. Can't decide if I like Senorita or 100 Days best. But this music really lifts my spirits and gets me going. Plus this is some of the best guitar playing I have ever heard, and I have heard some of the best."
Fabulous! Lo Maximo!

"Buy all his CDs, you won't be dissapointed. Just saw him at Bumbershoot and completely blew my mind. He is undoubtedly the best guitar player. Love him!"
