Accapella doo-wop at its best

"Several years ago when I was discussing the Nylons with a friend, he said, "Every (adult) person I know who discovers the Nylons not only loves them but become avid fans. If the Nylons got the exposure they would be as big a group to adults as the Beatles were to teens." Who are the Nylons? They are a four man acappella group from Canada. The original Nylons recorded for Windham Hill Records and probably were at their zenith back in the 80's. Two of the original members left the group and were replaced by two new members. They are a doo-wop sensation. They give us the doo-wop sound updated to today. Nylons Hits of the 60's is a compilation of classic covers recorded by the new group for the Scotti Brothers label. You will recognize every song on this CD. My suggestion on listening is to try songs that you love and discover the treatment that the Nylons give that song. If you are like every person my friend knows, you will end up owning both these CDs if not more."
Great boomer memories

"I remember how the original versions sounded. I expect a remake to have something of value either a fresh new take or a different feel than the original. Most of the selections (but not all) do live up to this criteria...hence the four out of five stars. My wife enjoys some of these versions better than the original! What else do you need to know!"
Not their best work

"I love the Nylons. "One Size Fits All" is one of my favorite albums of all time. But this one was a bit of a disappointment for me. I expected a bit more interpretation, and less close following of the arrangements that made the hits famous for their original artists.
Best cuts for me were Kiss Him Goodbye, Up on the Roof (A Nylons staple), and One Fine Day.
Anyway, I'm glad I got this one to fill out the collection, but I'd suggest another one first if it's your first time with the Nylons."
