Synopsis

Album Description
On Into The Loud, Nick Kizirnis, guitarist/vocalist for Eyesinweasel, The Mulchmen, Cage and Tobin Sprout solo records, has released a "classic Dayton alternative rock record," if such a term can exist in a city that has produced alternative rock greats such as Guided By Voices and The Breeders. Into The Loud is packed full of 15 songs that were recorded over the past three years or so, but the record sounds amazingly cohesive. Kizirnis was aided by several friends that are known to alternative rock fans. Jim Macpherson, a former member of GBV and the Breeders, plays drums on several tracks. John Shough, who has produced several GBV projects, recorded much of Into The Loud. Todd Robinson, owner of the famed LUNA Music, contributed bass to three tracks via Fed Ex. Although the CD is made up of 13 Kizirnis original tunes, there is a cover of an obscure GBV tune, Hank's Little Fingers. The other cover song, Dogg Bothered, is from Nick's former band mate, Gregg Spence, who passed away from cancer in 2002 and to whom Nick dedicates Into The Loud. Other well known Dayton musicians and friends that helped Nick were Maery Lanahan (background vocal on several tracks), Joe Tritschler from Crazy Joe and the Mad River Outlaws, Todd Carl, Tom Vandervort and Dennis Mullins. The first single off Into The Loud is Messenger, an up-tempo rocker that reflects the sound and spirit of much of the CD. Kizirnis noted that this song was originally demo-ed during his time with Cage, on the to-do list for Eyesinweasel/Tobin Sprout, and finally made it to tape for this album. Other standout tracks are Stood Looking Both Ways, which appeared in an earlier form on the "A Single Wish" songwriter compilation. So to all those fans of "classic Dayton alternative rock" that are bummed that in 2004 GBV has decided to call it quits, your depression won't last long after listening to Into The Loud. Alternative rock is alive and well in Dayton, Ohio.
