"Brignola, voted best baritone saxophone player in Down Beat's polls through the end of the nineties, has released a wide body of work, but has not received his deserved attention in the sales department. The multi-reed player is known as a hard-blowing bebop phenom, but here he plays a bit softer and intimate. He plays baritone sax all through the album, and the music appears to come more from the heart. The eagle soars! As usual from Brignola, the serving is bebop-and-ballads with a hint of latin. There are some truly beautiful songs on this album (his Mulligan-tribute "Gerrylike" and the trio take on "Body And Soul" with bass and Kenny Barron at the piano are absolutely stunning). If you want to get to know Brignola and his music (and you should!) this is a great place to start!"
