Synopsis

Album Description
Orlando-based New Roman Times are an indie rock band with a solid yet catchy sound and arty charm. On International Affairs, vocalists Dan Owens and Josie Fluri reveal bleak short stories and optimistic rants about loneliness and relationships, trading verses much like The Pixies? Black Francis and Kim Deal or Sonic Youth?s Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore. Their delivery, without hesitation or embellishment, makes this album seem as if it were dripping with honesty (and it is). New Roman Times have supported many national touring acts on their Southeast US dates in the past year including Death Cab For Cutie, VHS Or Beta, Cursive, Elefant, Ted Leo, The Rapture, and Rainer Maria. In an age that resists both, New Roman Times play music that is heartfelt and honest in the primal sense.

Reviewed on 7/30/2007...
Florida's New Roman Times may be the missing link between T-shirted indie rockers and slightly more angular post-punks. Spindly post-rock guitar lines and traded boy/girl vocals bounce atop a bed of dance-friendly beats as the earnest search for true love continues.

2004 saw them tour with Death Cab For Cutie, Cursive, Elefant, Ted Leo, The Rapture, and Rainer Maria. After closing the year as the opening act for the VHS or Beta tour, Josie, Dan, Ryan, Shane and Melissa are set to release their debut album "International Affairs" on Social Recordings.

"I saw these guys open for Death Cab For Cutie in Ft. Lauderdale and they were amazing! When i saw them scheduled to play again near me, i rushed to see them, they played another great solid show.

The CD is very catchy and addicting and has a good amount of diversity inbetween songs.

don't be a pirating (...), buy the cd."
