CD Reviews

Great Album

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a Great CD...However it has nothing to do with V.A.S.T. (Music for the poeple and Visual Audio Sensory Theater) This is a Completely Different Band. The Cd's should not be marketed together. it is missleading. I am a major V.A.S.T. Fan and find it appauling that he two cd's were marketed together."
New Clear Perfection

"No, I'm not a die-hard synth-pop fanatic, clad in leather and black eyeshadow that stalks the dancefloors until the wee hours. But perhaps that might lend more credibility to this review, as my tastes vary quite ecclectically-- from Dave Matthews, to Metallica, to Spyro Gyra... so with that in mind I offer the following:New Clear Sky follow up their debut single release "psychodrama" (which may be out of print?) with this first single off their upcoming CD, "Newer, Clearer..." What this NY duo has managed to accomplish with Vast is exactly what I have been hoping to hear someday in the clubs: a moving, intelligent, even heart wrenching SONG, not "track," against a backdrop of club-friendly intensity.... not an easy task as far as I can hear these days on the dance floor. But this song raises the bar even more with the inclusion of an industrial edge that enhances rather than detracts from the overall mood. The vocals sound reserved, but in context exude quite the opposite emotion throughout, and I can't stop hitting rewind to make sure I didn't miss something. And to launch the song even further away from the "synth-pop" category... the lyrics are happy (or are they...)... maybe even inspirational. This may very well be the start of something unique in the world of dance music. We shall soon see, I hope.NCS include two of their bonus remixes from another release which may be out of print, including the award winning remix of "Stuff of Magick" and there are two pretty decent remixes of "Vast" by The Nine and System 22, who also seem to making some headway in the electronica world. Not a bad deal at all, methinks, especially in this economy.Take my word for it as nothing more than a jaded consumer of all things musical... this is the "stuff of excellence.""
