Synopsis

The New Bomb Turks are an utterly relentless punk-garage quartet from Columbus, Ohio. Having recorded eight full-length CDs since 1993, the Turks are back with a vengeance on Beruhren Meiner Affe. This disc is pure, unadulterated punk mayhem, with only five songs and clocking in at a shade less than 20 minutes. They still sound like they grew up on a steady diet of Dead Boys and Iggy and the Stooges, but that's a good thing as far as the band's fans are concerned. For all you rock trivia freaks, be advised that there's a great cover of the Cheater Slicks' "Spanish Rose." Aside from a smidgen of synthesizer on "File Under: Defiled," this is just guitar, bass, drums. and Eric Davidson screaming his fool head off. --Mitch Myers

CD Reviews

Raw edge propulsive rock and roll
05/20/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This EP is a jet propelled blast of punk rock fury kicking off with a new version of the Turk classic "Defiled." Edgy, raw vocals combust into the volatile rhythm while the guitar takes flight into deep space sending back a solo blast of transmission jamming tones. The vocals snap back in with a red hot fury. For this tune alone the EP is well worth it but make sure to check out the semi-hidden remix of "Scapegoat Soup" which is almost unrecognizeable from the original. Overall, this is a blast of musical heat that will leave your ears smoldering in your headphones."
The Turks continue to be the best rock band in the world!

"5 songs on this EP. The first is File Under Defiled which is an extended strange mix of the song from At Ropes End. Slung Jury and Double Marlon are great Turk originals and as always - great taste in covers ... the Cheater Slicks "Spanish Rose". Also - at the end is Scapegoat Soup from At Ropes End but totally changed by a dj or something. All in all - a worthy addition to the catalog of the best rock band going!"
