Synopsis

Album Description
Produced by NRBQ head-honcho Terry Adams, the Neanderthals can approximate the 40-ton footwork of a Brontosaurus doing the Twist. But they've also got the crashingly deft guitar stylings of Planet Rockers/Los Straitjackets hotshot, Eddie Angel, darting through the monster's legs. Sundazed unleashes this wild, highly anticipated release upon an unsuspecting world!

CD Reviews

Crude, Rude, Idiotic & FUN!
Henry R. Kujawa | "The Forbidden Zone" (Camden, NJ) | 11/14/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Fans of Eddie Angel (Los Straitjackets, Planet Rockers) might be shocked to hear this "other side" of his music tastes. Carrying on with some of the same personnel responsible for EDDIE ANGEL'S GUITAR PARTY, The Neanderthals celebrate ROCK & roll at its simplest-- or is that its DUMBEST? I saw them at a show in Philly (warming up for The Kaisers) and one look at their "Fred Flintstone" outfits put me in the right frame of mind. While the cartoon show often featured jazz-inspired music, this band might be closer to the "reality" (if you know what I mean). Among the highlights: "The Lurch" (a tribute to THE ADDAMS FAMILY, another 60's TV icon), "Do The Pig" (uh-- is that a dance or something obscene?), "Rockin' In The Jungle" and "King Of The Twist". The singing can be more than a bit "monotone", but somehow here, it doesn't seem to be a problem.THE MODERN STONE AGE FAMILY is the 2nd album from these lunatics-- be sure to seek out their even-better debut, THE LATEST MENACE TO THE HUMAN RACE, which includes such "gems" as "Betty's Lou's Got A New Tattoo", "Girl And A Hot Rod", "Jungle Zombies (Ate My Baby)", "2000 Lb. Werewolf", "Twinkle Toes" and "Ballbuster Baby"."
