CD Reviews

No wonder this never came out in the U.S.

"I think Nas is a pretty dope MC, but honestly, I really don't see what the point of this album is. Usually BEST OF collections have a good number of tracks from all the albums the artist did, but that's not the case here. For the most part the songs are from his best album (Illmatic) and his worst album (Nastradamus). Things don't get much more uneven than that. There are eighteen tracks on the album, and the first eight are from Illmatic. I know what you're thinking: Illmatic only has ten songs. But what happens here is there are really only four Illmatic tracks on here, but two versions of each. The original songs are followed by remixes of them (e.g. "It Ain't Hard To Tell" [Large Professor Remix]). That's something you'd expect to find on a CD single or even an EP, but not on a greatest hits package. And I don't know who selected the songs for the rest of the album, because they're mostly filler or just plain wack tracks ("You Won't See Me Tonight", "Nastradamus", "New World", etc.).Another painfully obvious fact is that there are absolutely no Stillmatic songs on here. Also, this collection starts at a high note and ends at a low note (how can you start with "Life's A B" and end with "You Owe Me"?) I don't think this collection will necessarily hurt Nas' career, but if this were never released in America, it would suit me just fine."

"If you are a Nas fan then you probably have these tracks already. This is definately a collectors item. It includes the lyrics to the songs that are on this cd. It also has pics from the videos of the tracks. This album includes many of the hot tracks off of his albums(except for stillmatic) as well as five remixes. So if you a Nas fan then cop this."
CLASSIC N.A.S..

"If you do not have all of Nas' other records, this is a must have. It has classic NAS as well as a few remixes only avail. on line or in other ill albums. Most true Nas fans already own all these tracks..."
