The Ultimate Song Stylist Scores Again
Reginald D. Garrard | Camilla, GA USA | 08/02/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Having been a Nancy Wilson fan for over twenty years, I heartily recommend her latest offering. It is the perfect blend of her unigue vocal interpretations and able support from the studio musicians. All the cuts on the release are superb with special recognition given to the title cut, the duet (with James Ingram) "Wish You Were Here" and the seductive "Anything for Your Love." The CD contains an unlisted bonus selection taken from an earlier collaboration with Barry Manilow. This added gem only enhances an already flawless release. Keep up the good work, Nancy. Your fans will forever be the winners."
Nancy Not Like Before
Samuel Chell | Kenosha,, WI United States | 03/08/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"As a fan of the "good old standards," I didn't expect to go for this R&B, soul-pop recording, but give it chance and it's got you in its grip. The first tune, Bill Withers' "Hello Like Before," is easily worth the price of the album all by itself. Listen closely to the last part of the song, when Nancy pulls out the stops while expressing the frenzied cry of a desperate lover. One microsecond she's on the melody, the next she's in a register that's beyond musical notation if not the range of the human voice, then just as quickly she's back on pitch. Joplin and Yoko may have ventured into these areas but not with such emotional effect and knowing control. Nancy evokes Dionysian abandonment precisely because of her ability to maintain a productive tension between containment and letting go. The only comparable musical moments that come to mind would be John Coltrane's most inspired playing.Unfortunately, an album like this--a somewhat daring project for a lady of 60--is unlikely to reach many of Nancy's "old" fans and is likely to be ignored by today's younger listeners."
If I Had My Way

"Nancy has done it again, which is evident by this latest contribution. Nancy demonstrates on the entire album why she is the supreme song stylist. With pipes better than most younger entertainers, I thank God we still have this golden voice. This album is a special treat for me. Being associated with Nancy for the last 9 years and having the opportunity to see Nancy in many live perfomances, I believe this album has captured Nancy's groove ability at i'ts best. So to all the fans that submitted reviews of Lady Nancy's latest contribution, Keep Listening!"
