"If you were amongst the few lucky audience members to assist viewing a presentation of STARLIGHT EXPRESS when it graced the boards in NYC during it's breef 80s run, then you'll enjoy this compacted ensemble of songs on this CD. However, if you are searching for a CD that best represents the show; this is NOT THE CD TO PURCHASE. I strongly suggest the recently revised CAST version from LONDON. EL DeBARGE as a lead vocalist ("where is he now?") does not cut it when trying to listen to the main theme composed by LOYDD WEBBER."

"To the lover of Starlight Express, there is ONE more OFFICIAL recording and it's the Japan/Austaliam recording(same CD--two different covers). The australian recording gets a C+ from me. The drums are fake drums(recorded one's). Also Bobby Collins belongs in an underground R&B show--not starlight express. The major PLUS is that it has GIRLS ROLLINg STOCK and a kik-butt rocking version of ROLLIng STOCK (sung by the company). The song Starlight Express is the lyrics from the "studio american recording"--aka"When The Night Has Darken." The version of Make up My Heart is good BUT has slightly different orchestrations when the electric guitar as if this was probabbly one of the 1st sketches of this song. The PLUS of this recording is that the song "THERE"S ME is also included and it's a better sounding recording of this song compared to the 1984 London in which CB sounded like Barney! In this australian version, it's a little bit more of a duet. It also has CB which sounds totally 80's with the beginning opening sounds of the song.

Sorry, amazon.com. But I just had to leave more infomration not related to this recording. But people whoare fans of Starlight Express can read this, and know what else to look for someday on Amazon.com or Ebay.com through 3rd party sellers in the Marketplace or even Ebay's Half.com."
Good Show...Bad album

"I loved the show when it came out and had the original cast recording on a record, but this is not it. The songs on this CD just do not have the feeling, emotion and pop that they deserve. These pop singers do not understand the characters, let alone the story, therefore do not do the songs justice. If you want to get a CD of Starlight Express, take the time and spend the money on the original cast recording!"
