"Music from the Hill 2005" is a CD of contemporary music written and performed by students at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. The album features 17 tracks of instrumental, vocal and electronic music written by members of St. Olaf's classes of 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Among works included are the concert band piece "From the Banks to the Blue Ridge" by Carl Holmquist, performed by the St. Olaf Band; "Transmogrifications," a jazz-infused trumpet and electronics work by Michael Sweeney, with trumpet solos by special guest artist Martin Hodel; "Death Be Not Proud," a dramatic choral setting by Rebekka Jensen; Lucas Paine's vocal/guitar pop ballad "Better Days"; the lively string orchestra work "Veturnateur" by Matthew Peterson, "My Soul is Thirsting," a choral work by Jaclyn Schwartz and "The Persistence of Memory," an electronic piece by Greg Sylvester.
