"You don't hear Mr. Mike often a decade after his success, but he was a great rapper with Suave House Records back in the mid 90's (he had 3 nice records with them then disappeared). This album is his debut and was released in 1996. It's produced by the in-house producers (T-Mix, etc.) and has that West Coast G-Funk type influence on the beats. You're impressed by the fact that Mr. Mike is such a solid rapper, only squares would consider this "not real hip-hop" (like I see in those other reviews here) He can damn sure flow and goes on and on, never slipping up for the most part and clever with the wordplay. Another great thing is the guest appearances. Ice Cube and Mike lay down a really good track on "Wicked Wayz" and it works because throughout the album Mike reminded me of some kind of Ice Cube from Texas. Fellow label mates Eightball & MJG rip it up as usual on "Stop Lying" and EA-Ski raps on "Southwest" with a solid verse and brings one of the best beats of the album as a guest. Overall I don't think there is one bad song on this, I can imagine there's a lot of people out there that haven't heard this record. This is just good stuff, recommended for any hip-hop fans."
