Described variously as 'a maoist fiddle album' & 'a fiddle album for people who don't like fiddles', this is an uncompromising work which four-handedly re-invents the fiddle tradition. With a minimal dusting of percussion & other strange acoustic instruments, the heart of this album is the interaction of two fiddles, in which harmony & percussive accompaniment are taken to extremes. Much of the material is traditional, but it's undergone a total rethink with a view to making the music swing & speak rather than ping & squeak. 9 tracks. Skitteesh. 2003.
