GLORIOUS VOCAL MAGIC~BRAVO MORGANA!
Bradly Briggs | TOLUCA LAKE, CALIFORNIA | 08/20/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Once in a lifetime thankfully come a singer like Morgana King who can get so inside of a song that each song becomes a compelling emotional experience that is lasting and enriching...opening this extraordinary collection of peerless performances is a soul-deep performance of the motion picture theme song "Through The Eyes Of Love" that would have totally hypnotized the audience had this mesmerizing version been the vocal in the original score! Arrangements by Torrie Zito who arranged classics for Morgana like her incredible performance of "A Taste Of Honey" are rich and inspired creating a set of glorious new classics for Miss Morgana King who is the most uniquely orginal great singer over the past fifty years and one of the finest ever since the beginning of recordings...timeless songs like "Gentleman Friend" & "Time After Time" feature Morgana is superb form taking the listener to places never experienced before in these great songs! "I Wished For The Moon" is a cool jazzy reading of this standard while the seldom heard Gershwin "Love Is Sweeping The Country" is sophisicated & soulful. A contemporary standard "With You I'm Born Again" show how Morgana can go from past standards and progress to contemporary with complete ease and make these new songs classic with her brilliant interpretations...a lost masterpiece on Verve Records from the sixties is another brilliant example of this unique ability with Morgana going from definitive Beatle performances like "Eleanor Rigby", "Tomorrow Never Knows" to incredible performances of standards like "Since I Feel For You" that leave the listener breathless..."I Know How It Feels To Be Lonely" is a lost vocal masterpiece that deserves to be released on compact disc!!!

A glorious medley "Imagination/I'm Old Fashioned" is hauntingly brilliant while an evergreen "Dearly Beloved" is jazzy and sophisicated ear candy and like any truly great artist the finale to this tremendous collection is a stunning "Lilac Wine" that show what the legend of Morgana is all about...a gifted, soulful and extraordinary singer who is a vocal legend and always a pleasure to experience and enjoy. Bravo Morgana!!!"
THIS ALBUM REUNITES MORGANA KING WITH TORRIE ZITO FOR WHAT C

"Those who are familiar with Morgana's recordings will quickly tell you her mid 60's album "A Taste Of Honey" is one of her very best recordings to date! Well, almost 20 (Twenty) years later a long overdue album with arranger Torrie Zito took place on June of 1981! This album doesn't have the 50 (Fifty) piece orchestra that was featured on the "A Taste Of Honey" album, but a 5 (Five) piece string quartet that gives this project the ultimate in music intimacy! This string quartet is featured on 6 (Six) of the 8 (Eight) Tracks. This entire Compact Disc clocks in at 30:51 (Thirty Minutes & Fifty-One Seconds). A Two-Fer package would have been real nice, and/or Bonus Unreleased Tracks. Morgana was with Muse Records for about 20 (Twenty) years, so there shouldn't be a shortage of Extra Tracks.

There's not a bad track to be found on this album! This along with several of her album for the Muse label are Out Of Print! There is no talk of another label picking up the Muse Records masters. Follow this strong advise...BUY THIS A.S.A.P.!, BE IT VINYL, CASSETTE or COMPACT DISC!"
