"I first heard of Monsterland over 10 years ago when I received a sampler CD from Seed Records. It contained 2 Monsterland songs: "Insulation" and "Lobsterhead". I loved those songs and was very grateful to have received the sampler CD. To compare Monsterland to another band is hard for me but I will say that they are very guitar-driven rock. (Perhaps they are similar to Gwen Mars?) If you are into a bit of indie, cleaned garage band sound, then Monsterland is for you. Since receiving the sampler CD, I have spent many record store hunts on the prowl for "Destroy What You Love", the album that contains the above mentioned songs. I finally was able to find a copy last year. My tastes have changed over the years but I still love "Insulation" and "Lobsterhead". They are pop-rock gems, almost perfect. On the album, most of the songs have the same feel, but not the magic that those 2 songs have. It must be my bias of knowing those 2 songs for so many years before hearing the other songs. Another song on the album that I have since grown to love very much is "Crashing Teenager Crush". It's another biting guitar song. Those are the 3 classic songs from the album that have become staples in my musical diet. If you like guitar rock at all, I definitely recommend picking up a copy of "Destroy What You Love"."
