CD Reviews

One of the few true classics

"Anybody who's reading this review probably knows about Mixmaster Mike & his history, so I'll spare you those details. This pretty much impossible to find 1996 independent release is the raw you expect from one of the pioneering "turntablist". It is only two tracks long, but each go for 20-25 minutes. Less actual turntable compositions like on Anti-Theft Device, but all cuttin' & scratchin' from start to finish. A highlight is the brilliant manipulation of Dr. Dre & Ice Cube's "Natural Born Killaz", a routine that he also did on a track on Shiggar Fraggar Show Vol. 5. My personal favorite is during the intro where he cuts the word "master" from Metallica's Master of Puppets. Simple, but very effective. The sound quality leaves a little to be desired, but is not too much of a detriment. If you are ever fortunate enough to come across a copy of this one, grab it & guard it with your life, because you won't see another one again. Also the title is "Mixmasterpiece: Muzik's Worst Nightmare" & it's spelled wrong on a lot of sites, not just Amazon."
