CD Reviews

No, this isn't SING ALONG WITH MITCH...

(4 out of 5 stars)

"I've always wondered if this Mitch Miller and the Mitch Miller of "Sing Along" fame were the same person and this was just a side project that Miller did for Golden Records, or if they were different people and that's why some of the Golden Records were credited Mitchell Miller.

Regardless, if you had these Little Golden Christmas Records as a child, you'll recognize these recordings. These were first issued on the 6" yellow vinyl 78s and later on those very brittle green or purple label 45s. I grew up with those 45s and probably didn't break more of anything as a child.

Strangely enough, only part 1 of "The Night Before Christmas" is on this disc. Part 2 was left off. That was the reason I deducted a star. Other than that, I have to say that I love these arrangements and they bring back some great childhood memories."

"I had bought this as a Christmas gift.Remember listening to an old album with this group as a kid and thought Mom would love this. Wrong!First clue something was wrong was that there were no words included for the songs. The old MM records always came with the words. We got to maybe the second song before we realized that this was NOT the Mitch Miller group and sounded nothing like them. I feel cheated by this and wish I had seen the other review before buying it.There are too many excellent Christmas CDs available to get conned by this one."
