CD Reviews

Last comment was offensive to West Indians
K. Thomas | The Virgin Islands | 11/18/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"As a West Indian I was offended by that last review. The same patois that Miss Lou tells her stories in and sings in is the same patois that Reggae legends Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley sang in and modern artists, Lady Saw, Sean Paul, Beanie Man and Elephant man chant in. So how can you claim to like reggae and insult Miss Lou. She's preaching about the mother culture that gave birth to Reggae. You can't love the child and kill its mother...that's harsh.

Miss Lou is a Caribbean gem...she is beloved from Jamaica - her home right down to Trinidad."
Jamaican Culture and stories
Jonathan Camfield | Washington, DC, United States | 08/05/2005

"It's true; this is misclassified as reggae. Miss Lou is THE Jamaican storyteller, and as such is a great way to get inside the culture. If you're a big reggae fan, this might be an interesting insight into the culture that spawns it. She speaks in Jamaican Patois, so if you can't understand reggae and dancehall artists very well, you'll need some help..."
Born Jamaican

"The Great Bananaman is an idiot.

He is not a Jamaican in any form or shape, maybe it is Jamaica Queens, USA him come from.

Him neva grow up pan ring ding and them poem Ms Lou would recite.

These are good memories for any good Jamaican who love them culture."
