One of the things that I've found that I love about Miriam Makeba's music is how bright and truly happy it sounds, and how easily it transports me to another place. On this recording, thankfully her beautiful and magical voice is not buried under the instruments or backup singers performing with her. The joyful sound of her music is presented clearly and cleanly here, and brings me so much joy while I'm listening to it. The collection of songs on this CD set is also some of Ms. Makeba's best, and is a great place to start if you don't have any of her music in your collection yet. I've bought three Miriam Makeba CDs, including this one, since first seeing that Honda ad that plays her "Pata Pata", and I was compelled to find an album that contained the version played in the ad. Now that I've got it on this CD set, I can relax, and truly enjoy the music of one of the world's great International artists. If her music doesn't bring you joy and brighten your day, I'll be very surprised!" |
