CD Reviews

Useful and fun in many settings

"I love to just listen to this album, it's happy and energetic. But I have also had success sharing it with children, in Sunday School (Jesus Gave me Water) and at preschool (Shoofly, The Snake). It's so much better than a lot of the music aimed at them, and it's a chance to sneak some good strong women and African American traditions into their young minds. It's too fun to keep just for the adults!"
They're every bit as good as the Persuasions

"I first heard the Mint Julips on Spike Lee's "Doin' It A Cappela" and thought they were abolutely fantastic. Round Our Way only reconfirms my feelings that these girls are one of the best vocal groups, a capella or otherwise in the world today. Higher and Higher actually made the hair on the back of my neck stand up! Their harmonies and counters seem to be almost spontaneous. I would love to see them on tour here in the U.S., maybe with the Persuasions whom I think they're every bit as good as, if not better."
Acapella R&B/gospel at its absolute best

"This recording has the feel of a bunch of women getting together just to have a good time singing together. But their voices, harmonies and rythmn are purely professional. The entire album is great fun. If you saw the Mint Juleps on the acapella TV special produced by Spike Lee a couple of years ago you know what I'm trying to convey about them. I only wish they had more material released!"
