"For fans of J. Strauss and his operetta's, this and Millocker's other immortal operetta 'Der Bettlestudent' are just what you are looking for. Almost every number is a delicous watlz spiced with the potent flavors of Italy. Every piece is enticing and leaves you wanting to hear it again . My favorite the drinking song(and the most addicting song and most recognisable) 'Wenn der Morgen hold erwacht' will have you skipping back to listen to it over and over but I must reccomend that you do move on for the entire opera is worth repeated playings. You definitely wont regret it when you arrive at the act 1 fianle.



The operetta takes place in Italy and involves the time tested favorite operetta plot of Italian brigands and their interactions and runins with royalty (robbery, trickery, and love...what else!). All in all the entire operetta is magnificent and will quickly work it's way to becoming one of your most listened too albums especially if you're already a fan of Austrian operetta."
