Synopsis

Album Description
This five-piece female punk outfit from LA pound their way through interesting, fast pop songs that leave you wondering how they pull the steam all the way through. Imagine a high school dance where Red Kross, Black Flag, X-Ray Spex, The Slits, and The Germs are all playing, with an updated flare of excitement and anxiousness. They've opened for the likes of The Gossip, The Moving Units, Gravy Train, XBXRX, and Deerhoof. Come "pony thrash" with them this fall on tour.

Real Punk Rock LIVES!
G. Brabander | Los Angeles | 10/01/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Mika Miko has a sound that is a throw back to Punk Rock before hardcore became popular. They remind me more of what was happening in Los Angeles circa 1978-79 and do a helluva job too. The first time I saw them they opened for The Avengers (the original 1977-79 punk rock band from San Francisco) and as soon as Mika Miko hit the stage I had a feeling I was in for something different. One of the singers (Jennifer) uses a red telephone as her microphone which lends a unique sound to her voice. The band is solid all around. Michelle is an amazing guitarist, Kate pounds the drums, and Jesse just blows me away on bass, absolutely phenominal! If you get a chance to see them live, do it! One warning though, Mika Miko tend to invite their fans on stage which if fun and all, but sometimes the fans get in the way and truthfully, you can't hear the band very well. But at the shows people are not in the way, get ready to be blown away!"
