CD Reviews

Another unknown, underrated band!
B. Koren | Buffalo, New York | 07/23/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This is the only album the Midnight Creepers made ( as far as I can tell, and I've looked!), but they are/were as tight and as driven as any band I've heard. They're another in a long line of bands that quietly make great music - Jack Mack and the Heart Attack, Cold Blood, Chris Daniels and the Kings, etc. - bands that fly under the radar but which have legions of devoted fans. The Midnight Creepers were a basic blues band with enough horns to be funky, too.. A great band that should have made more records....!"
Midnight Creepers - Breaking Point

"The late, great blues producer Bob Greenlee was the driving force behind the Midnight Creepers. Best known for bringing lots of great southern blues to the fore (notably Kenny Neal and the other Neal brothers), he produced this CD and played bass in the band. The other Midnight Creepers are Mike Galloway (vocals and harmonica), Ronnie "Byrd" Foster (drums, percussion, vocals), and Warren King (lead, rhythm, and slide guitars).

Most of the tracks were penned by Greenlee, but Raful Neal contributed 'Luberta', and Ernie Lancaster co-wrote three tracks as well as pitching in with some guitar work. The inimitable Lucky Peterson plays keyboards and piano on this disc. Other contributors are Bill Samuel and Charlie Bertini on trumpet; Bruce Staelens, Lawson "Buzz" Montsinger, and Kenny Cohen on sax; Winston Kelly on piano; and Rick Bailey on background vocals."
