"This is without a doubt the worst live album I have ever purchased. While I have no doubt that Mr. Gilley is phenomenal in concert, this CD doesn't do much to reflect that. Throughout the first portion of the CD, it sounds as though he's done these songs so many times he's just sleepwalking through them. It gradually gets better, with the best songs coming near the end. I'm not so miffed at his performance -- many singers don't do live CDs well -- but I'm fried at the way this CD is put together. Many of the songs seem chopped off, sped up, and end VERY quickly...as in, little or no crowd noise. Hard to recapture the electricity of a live show when you can barely hear the crowd. Was this done in a nightclub, in front of 20 people? I guess I knew I was in for disppointment when the first song blares into the speaker without the slightest hint of a crowd behind him. Some songs just "end", with an ultra-quick fade. Another thing that irks me is that the 30-second Amazon sample clips of each song sometimes don't tell the whole story, namely the beginning and ending of songs. Also, the fine print on the front and back of the CD that says "new studio recordings by the original artist". I recommend you steer clear of this one. There simply has to be a better live Gilley CD than this one."
