CD Reviews

The Evolution of a Great Musician
Daniel P. Rodrigues | USA | 11/12/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Illusions is a great album. Michale continues to grow as a musician. At first it was hard to see him move to more acoustic stuff, as I was introduced to him through the Misfits. He clearly shows that he is a great musician, releasing original material every year.

The standout songs for me are Lucifer I am, When we were Angels, Frostbite and Wormwood."
I Can Dig It
Cliff Speed | Pittsburgh | 06/10/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"There's a lot of history to the Misfits and everything that has come from them and their descendants, but I'm not going to go into that at all. AT ALL. That's because if you're reading this, you must at least be open minded enough to like the new Misfits as well as the old, Michale Graves was their singer.

Since the Misfits, Graves has released a significant number of albums under all kinds of different names. Many of them are punk/rock style, and left me with a rather bored feeling more than anything. This was disappointing since I enjoyed Graves' work with the Misfits and felt he was the most talented one.

Then I heard "Illusions" and I saw that this is where he shines. The songs are all acoustic, as in there's practically no distortion that I recall except perhaps for one bass track and some lead guitar. But Graves' voice is really what's important here. The chorus to "Lucifer I Am" makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Seriously.

So if you want to hear Michale Graves sing his heart out, this album could be for you. It works for me."
