"I am impatiently waiting for the new Michael Thompson cd (MT Speaks) to hit the stores, but I must say "The World According to MT" is an incredible album!! The songs are good, phenomenol guitar playing! His solo on "A Chang is Gonna Come" alone is worth the price of the cd. He has a great touch,tone and feel for rock guitar and has jazz knowledge which helps him outplay 98% of the other guitarists out there. Like Tim Pierce (LA studio giant), Michael plays very eloquent rock guitar and sounds great doing it. This is an essential purchase for any lover of guitar!"

"This is the BEST music I've had the pleasure to hear in over 30 years! It is also possibly the most underrated and neglected. Why this record never got a Grammy is beyond me!!



MT is an incredibly gifted guitarist, writer, arranger and producer and all of these attributes are more than amply represented here. Many fine guitar players have churned out patchy or mediocre albums that lack direction or are riddled with poor material. Jeff Beck is a prime offender for this. Well, there's nothing mediocre about this effort.



Michael composed and/or co-wrote 10 of the 12 tunes on this CD. Bobby Womack's vocal rendition of Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come" is awesome, easily the best since Sam himself recorded it and the song is highlighted by Michael's brilliant melodic guitar solo. The other two singers, Jennelle Sadler (on Miracles) and Mark Spiro (on Midwestern Sky) also put in very competent vocal performances and add to the diversity of this wonderful record.



But ultimately it's MT who shines throughout, one of the best guitarists you'll ever hear. MT is far more than an awesome Rock guitarist with great 'chops'. His playing is always fluid, flawless, soulful and inventive and prompts me to hit the re-play button as soon as the last note has rung out. If you dig great guitar playing and your taste leans towards the exquisite, don't let this one slip through your fingers."
