Synopsis

Album Description
With "Letting Go," Michael G. has created an amazing eclectic mixture of what critics have often referred to as "Deep Pop" music. There are some great Rock & Soul tunes here that harken back to the Seventies and Al Green or Ray Charles. There are also some beautiful, epic, full production rock ballads that move the listener similarly to some of the work from The Who. Mixed in with these are a couple pensive, soul searching acoustic rock songs with a strong, sometimes slightly melancholy, story to tell. And then there are the classic rock sounding tunes ala Dr. Hook and the Medicine Men with equally funny and authentic messages. The influences of the Beatles, Peter Gabriel, and David Crosby are as evident as his genuine love of telling a good story in song. One reviewer called it "Lyrics for Women, with Melodies for Men." A good description as any for a collection of songs that one would be hard pressed to fit into today's narrow music racks. They are amazingly diverse and yet with the production skills of Robinson Eikenberry they all sound as though they really belong together in this truly unique collection from an original American singer/songwriter. Michael G., along with the often noted aid of Dan Zimmerman and Robinson Eikenberry has created (and beautifully sung!) a classic CD of all original songs that you will not be able to escape wanting to listen to again and again. If good, solid song writing, with beautiful, all acoustic string and horn production and arrangement, ever comes back into vogue as people tire of the Spice Boyz and Girlz, this CD will surely be at the top of the charts.
