"When I first heard Menudo play on Sesame Street when I was a kid, it really got me to think about diversity. I didn't know why I couldn't understand a word of what they're saying, but I wanted to learn more.
Say what you want about lame music, but the concept of this band was ingenious: members had to leave when they turned 16. They were always appealing to little girls because the boys were young, non-threatening and sounded like girls. They even bought a Cessna private jet, which is still a big deal today.
The best song is "Cambiale Las Pilas." It outshines the others by far, but the whole album is still solid. You'd be wrong not to pick it up. Even if you're not a huge Spanish-language music fan, Menudo is a major part of rock history the same way The Jackson 5 is. The very influential nature of Menudo made people wonder more about Latin culture and tolerance. Take a listen, and you'll surely be glad you did."
