On their debut disc, this San Francisco trio strikes the perfect balance: supercatchy riffs, a sharp sense of humor, and just enough musical muscle to keep things nice and edgy. They most closely resemble MC5, but, like Denver's long-gone retro heroes The Fluid, Mensclub pay homage to the Motor City's finest without blatantly ripping them off. Comin' to Take You Away certainly doesn't feature the revolutionary leanings of Kick Out the Jams. In fact, with tunes like "Ass, Gas, or Grass," "Nutcase," and "Wankenstein," it's pretty apparent that they're more concerned with entertaining than with trying to change the world.
