"Approximately 56 min. long. Does not say remastered. This album is a companion to another Delmark/United release, Memphis Slim The Comeback. Together they represent all the songs Slim recorded for United Records. U.S.A. brings to light the last of his recordings done in four sessions for the company. Taken together,these are some of Slim's finest work. Utilizing a bass,drums,tenor sax,guitar backdrop enabled Slim to rise to the occasion on piano and his always fine vocals. One of the key elements of the session was guitarist Matt Murphy. Not only did he play outstanding guitar,he also helped with the arrangements. Slim,recognizing his talents,let Murphy loose on a number of instrumentals. The tunes comprise either blues or boogies as that is what Slim thought would sell. This album and its companion set belong in anybodys library who likes good unpretentious blues."
