Rockin' with Slim

"A great rockin' band date from 1959, these recordings feature Memphis Slim and his working band including the great Mat "guitar" Murphy on guitar and a 3 piece horn setion.I would have loved to see this band live as they are tight!Includes a few of Slims' classics like "mother earth", "steppin out"(covered by Mayall/Clapton), and "the comeback"(coverd by Basie/Joe Williams). This was my first Slim album and is still one of my favorites."

"I am Memphis Slims' first cousin, Robert Marshall. It is so good seeing more and more of Peter's (Peter Chatman is his real name) albums finding their way into venues such as Amazon. As a child I spent alot of time with him whenever it was okay with my mother as he toured and in recording sessions. But the biggest kick was visiting him in Paris while I was stationed in Germany during the 70's and seeing how his music was expanding into movie music scores, concept albums, and radio/TV scores. He was a phenomenal individual and I sorely miss him."
