"This is a high quality digitally remastered example of 1950's bluegrass. There are great harmonies from Lloyd, lead and guitar, Kelly, tenor and mandolin and Haskel, baritone and banjo.
Haskel's banjo picking is some of the best you'll hear. He later played with Lester Flatt's Nashville Grass for a while. While not as well known as some of the later bluegrass bands they were favorites of other entertainers such as Flatt and Scruggs, Ernest Tubb and Ricky Skaggs.I was lucky enough to have seen them perform live in the early sixties. Not only were they excellent musicians, they were very good performers, clowning around on stage and getting the audiance into the show.Their records have not been available to the general public for years. I hope this is just a start and the next volume contains some of their rockabilly tunes. This cd is well worth the money and would be a great addition to your bluegrass or country music collection."
