Awesome Product In My Opinion

(5 out of 5 stars)

"First let me state I am no expert when it comes to classical music. In fact, I am more of an amateur. However, I do know a thing or 2 about quality, quantity, and many other things. Thus being said as far as I can tell this is a perfect box set for newb's, amateur's, and at least intermediate's (if not everyone) to the classical genre.

Selection:

As there are 10 CD's per each of the 10 Composers there is quite a lot of choice. There are the greatest masterpieces of each of these greatest composers all the way down to some unexpected yet still beautiful very short pieces. If you want to have a good and VARIED-ENCOMPASSING collection from what is probably the 10 best classical composers of all time yet don't want to strain your budget or space, this collection is what you want.

Quality:

The recording quality is astounding. I have yet-to-hear a single recording hiss, pop, crack, or other artifact. It seems perfect. As the main review states, 'performances are by prominent musicians' and it deffinatly seems to show. Like I said I am no expert, but the lows are low, the highs are high. The crescendo's and decrescendo's smooth. There does not seem to be any unintentional pauses or hiccups by the musicians. After all these are apparantly the best recordings of the best orchestra's and musicians in recording history for these pieces.

Packaging:

Of course the old saying 'you get what you pay for' always applies. However, the outside box is beautiful and better than what you would expect for the price. The overall container is about a 'shelf-box design', DESIGNED to be on display. There are 10 individual boxes (1 for each composer/artist), fairly easy to remove and labelled clearly. Inside each 1 composite box are 10 lose-sleeves housing a CD each. Which of course is nothing special, but all you really need is what is given there (a container with information on what the CD holds).

Price:

In my opinion the $100 - $120 price range is well worth this collaboration."
