Synopsis

Album Description
Orlando's Mashlin demonstrate the art of blending striking guitars with billowing vocals to create an unforgettably dulcet recording. Their dreamy intensity has elicited comparisons to Coldplay and Muse, while the band cites Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and Foo Fighters as major influences. Produced by Chris Fudurich (Nada Surf, Finch, Rx Bandits). "Melodic musical magicians designing a uniquely captivating sound"--absolutepunk.net. "Textured...organic...powerful, yet poignant. This reminds me of the first time I heard Nada Surf ten years ago...and I haven't heard anyone else ever really capture that sound. Well, until now"--Pucknation.com.

You Make Comparisons, They Better Be True

"Review by Kyle Crawford:

Mashlin's official biography claims their debut album, Pushing Through the Seasons, "has demonstrated the art of blending striking guitars with billowing vocals to create an unforgettably dulcet recording. Their dreamy intensity has elicited comparisons to Coldplay and Muse, while the band cites Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and the Foo Fighters as major influences." Aside from the "billowing vocals" portion of their description, absolutely nothing about it shines through on the album. Just because a band uses a piano once or twice on an album, shouldn't necessarily incite a Coldplay comparison, which is exactly what was done with Mashlin.

Pushing Through the Seasons, starts off relatively strong, however, with the song "The Shore." Starting an album off right can sometimes make or break a listener's attention span, and Mashlin definitely do that with this catchy, melodic tune. Continuing on, the album seems to fizzle out about half way through. This seems to be a common practice in today's scene; stagnation, however, isn't something that should be a popular trend.

Overall, Mashlin's debut album shows nothing more than a mediocre, pop-rock effort that will soon be forgotten if it ever happens to catch on in the first place. Pushing Through the Seasons, has its high points in particular songs, but to say it is a complete album would be, to put it bluntly, a complete lie."
